Colombo – The Capital of Sri Lanka

Colombo is the capital city and largest city of Sri Lanka by population, and it is also a main commercial hub. The population of 5.6 million lives in the Colombo metropolitan area. It is located on the west coast of the island, about 32 km from Katunayaka International Airport. It became the capital of the island when Sri Lanka was subjugated by the British Empire in 1815.

There were many structures belonging to the Portuguese era, Dutch era, and British era in the Colombo area that can still be seen today. Today, there are many modern tourist attractions in Colombo.
